Back to School Free Haircut Day
What we’re doing!
I am very excited to be teaming up with Michael Hooks to bring awareness to the 6th Annual Back to School Free Haircut Event.
The 6th Annual Back to School Free Haircut Event is being held by Michael’s Hair Salon on Saturday August 27, 2011. This event is held on the grounds of Pfeiffer-Burleigh School on 235 East 11th Street in Erie from 7 am to 5 pm.
The event serves youth in need whose families may not otherwise be able to afford to purchase school supplies for the children or a back to school haircut. Each year the event grows along with the needs of the youth in our community. Last year alone around 500 haircuts were given along with book bags filled with essential school supplies to prepare the children to head back to the books.
This year the event will give children a book bag, school supplies, books and food. Entertainment will also be provided throughout the day so everyone should have a great time!
Michael Hooks, longtime Credit Union member, Â believes that something as simple as a haircut and some school supplies can make a huge difference in the school performance of an at-risk child. I couldn’t agree any more!
Here’s how you can help!
So here’s how you can help. My buds at the Credit Union have set up bins at all of their locations (Click here to see where their branch locations are). Just bring some of the items listed below and drop them in the bins. If you or your business/group/church/family/second cousins/glee club would like to help comment below and someone from the Credit Union will get in touch with you. You can also call them at 814-456-6231 and they will let you know what you can do! They also are taking cash donations to help purchase items for the event.

- Book bags
- One Subject Notebooks
- Glue- sticks and bottles
- 8 pack of crayons
- Pens
- No. 2 Pencils
