The Real Money Experience – Teaching Kids

Posted on May 31, 2011 by admin 2 Comments

Myself and the folks from the GE Credit Union recently had the privilege of working with the Penn State Erie Center for Financial and Consumer Outreach (CFCO) in hosting the Real Money Experience.

The event gave kids the chance to experience life as if they were graduates from college working their first job. The students then had the opportunity to spend the money they were earning. There were options for the students to invest the money in order to make more money, or they could choose to spend the money on expensive cars or VIP treatment at concerts or sporting events. For the kids who made some not so smart choices it was a good opportunity for them to learn where they went wrong so they don’t make the same bad choices in real life.

We all had a lot of fun hanging out with some awesome students and teaching them about money. After the experience was over we got the chance to bust some dance moves, and pose for some pictures on the red carpet.

I even got a chance to meet my mini me!

Here are some pics from the event! Enjoy!
